Norfolk Seniors made the long trip to play at Rothley Park to play Leicestershire & Rutland.
The course was in great shape, which is more than can said about the weather, with some very heavy showers throughout the day.
The format for the match was nine hole greensomes in the morning followed by fourball betterball in the afternoon.
The hosts started the morning session at a canter as Royal Cromer’s Bernie Peet and Dave Pattrick found out with their opponents carding four birdies to win the first match 3&1. Royal Cromer’s Simon Fuller and King’s Lynn’s Harvey Scott won their their match 2&1 while halves for captain Tony Lount and Brian Graver and Malcolm Carr and Geoff Jennings, all members at Sheringham, meant Norfolk amassed just two points while Leicestershire & Rutland walked away with four. Hunstanton’s Mark Ramsey and Mike Easton from Weston Park teamed up well in the afternoon session to win their match 3&1 and Richard Blakey (Eaton) and Roger Marson from Sheringham, who was making his senior debut, won 2&1. Unfortunately, the remaining pairings could only manage half a point and Leicester & Rutland went on to win the match 11-7.
