Norfolk's under-18 women's team maintained their status in Group 3A of the County Cup with two wins from three games on their home courts of Easton & Otley College.

Playing Lancashire, East of Scotland and Essex at Easton across last weekend, Norfolk finished second in their group, winning 10 rubbers along the way.

The team of Vianne Palffy, Frances Evans, Rosie Pooley, Alix Jermey, Eleanor Widdows, Emily Barrett, Mia Bartram and Millie Brooks beat Lancashire 5-4 on Friday with a very good team performance.

The girls came back from 2-0, to lead 4-2 after the singles, with a special mention to Rosie Pooley who won her singles in three sets. Vianne and Frances won their doubles to seal the victory

A brilliant team performance earned a 5-4 win over East of Scotland on Saturday.

After going 3-0 down the team pulled it back to 3-3 after the singles, with Rosie winning another three-set thriller. Vianne had a more comfortable win and then there was Frances who was a set and 5-3 down but turned it around to win 6-3 in the third set.

Mia and Eleanor lost a three-set doubles, playing great tennis and Vianne and Frances had a good win to make it 4-4, leaving Rosie and Emily to win the final doubles and ensures Norfolk would stay in division 3A next year.

Sunday brought a 7-0 defeat to group winners Essex. All players worked hard in this final match, however their opponents were too strong on the day.

I would like to thank all the players for their team spirit and hard work. Looking forward to next year.
