The national newspapers’ views on Norwich City’s 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United.
The Independent: “Ben Arfa remains one of the most pleasing Premier League players on the eye, particularly for the delicacy of his touch. Norwich did not have that kind of player, but they were genuine and honest and embodied the ethos of manager, Chris Hughton, who was afforded a great reaction from the Newcastle fans who have not forgotten the job he did in leading the club to promotion in 2010.”
The Guardian: “The good news is that, if Wes Hoolahan keeps playing like this, Hughton should eventually get the rewards his class and dignity demand.”
The Mirror: “Keeper Steve Harper was also at his sharpest, saving well at the feet of Andrew Surman when he was through on goal after Wes Hoolahan’s pass. And sub Grant Holt caused trouble with his power late on. But the search for that elusive Premier League win goes on for Hughton’s men.”
The Sun: “The goal extended Norwich’s sorry Premier League record of conceding in 36 away games in succession.”
The Telegraph: “Newcastle’s one spark of inspiration was the magnificent Hatem Ben Arfa, who gave Javier Garrido a torrid afternoon. Unsurprisingly, it was from a Ben Arfa assist that Newcastle took the lead, as he spotted Ba’s run through a crowd of yellow shirts, and somehow curled a perfect pass to him, which Ba was able to control with his first touch and slot through the legs of John Ruddy with his second.”

I don't believe that quote was from the Guardian. I thought they were in favour of legislation forcing clubs to select at least 40% women in the team which also has to display ethnic diversity and positive discrimination towards those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Team selection on merit? A terrible example of fascism.
