A diehard fan so moved by the Bloaters’ dire financial plight has taken matters into his own hands by kicking off a fund-raising campaign.
Rich Davison has set up savethebloatersco.uk online and has also been collecting donations in Yarmouth Market Place and at home matches.
He said: “I want to help save Yarmouth Town. They are in deep debt and there is little support.
“I’m just raising awareness and letting people know that we need some money and support or the club will die.
“We’ve had support from Holland and from the world of boxing as well as football – it’s been phenomenal.”
He added: “I will once again state to all, this is not a campaign to raise money for a takeover of the club, and I have no desire to be chairman or on the club’s committee as is rumoured around town.
“I simply want to help clear the club’s debts through various initiatives so the club stays within the Ridgeons League, albeit Division One next season unless we get a miracle and Wayne Rooney up front, and we don’t drop into the Anglian Combination league.
Jones commented: “Anything that people are doing to help the club is a good thing.
“It seems to be for the right intentions, helping the club flourish.”
