Lotus Elise UK Championship’s Snetterton meeting will be landmark race for duelling Donnellys

This weekend will be a landmark for Stefan Donnelly as he makes his circuit racing debut alongside father Martin in the Lotus Elise UK Championship at Snetterton’s opening race meeting of the season.
The local pair borrowed a Lotus 111R to take part in a recent sprint event with the former Grand Prix driver claiming third place to just edge his son out of the position.
Round Two of the Sprint series will take place on Sunday while the pair are entered in different cars for the pair of Lotus Elise Trophy races on the same day which will also feature Seth Walpole’ from Terrington St Clement, who will be hoping for a good run to start off his season.
The father and son team join a full grid of 40 cars in the 90 minute Lotus Cup UK event on Saturday’ to compete in the Production category’ while Benji and Freddie Hetherington and Steve Guglielmi/Ian Fenwick will fight for overall honours in their potent Exige’s
Tristian Cliffe is determined to start his F3 Cup campaign off with a large haul of championship points as the Mulbarton racer saw his title hopes vanish at Snetterton last year after crashing on his first visit and spinning into retirement during his second trip.
Eager to put a dent in the local racers ambitions are Henry Chart and Louis Hamilton-Smith the former hoping to build upon his two wins last season while the latter is eager to stand atop of the podium which he narrowly failed to do last year.
The Monoposto classes race on both days with Robbie Watts back to defend his title in his rapid Lola having sealed the title last year at the Norfolk venue.
The 11 race and two Sprint programme rounded off by a Team Trophy event on Sunday while the Trackday Trophy runners start the meeting off on Saturday at 1.40pm with racing resuming the following day at 11.40am.
