Norwich City’s new signing Lewis Grabban is ready to spearhead Neil Adams’ bid to take the Championship by storm.

The former Bournemouth striker moved to the Canaries last week after a prolific 22-goal stint on the south coast last season.

The 26-year-old had been linked with Brighton and Cardiff City but Adams’ hard sell convinced him to move to Carrow Road.

“When I listened to the manager’s philosophy on attacking football, it was a similar to the philosophy at Bournemouth,” Grabban told the Bournemouth Echo. “It’s important when a settled player moves on that they don’t go into a team that uses a completely different style, because it just might not work.

“I think Eddie Howe is getting it right and the manager at Norwich has similar philosophies - he wants to play attacking, passing football and dominate possession.

“I liked that aspect of what he wanted to do and the club’s ambitions matched my ambitions to get to the Premier League. Bournemouth have got a good chance of getting there, but I do feel that Norwich have a lot of Premier League experience and also experience of getting to the Premier League, so maybe they might edge it on that. The opportunity to go to a club of that size was one I didn’t want to turn down.”

  • Btw; when Archie finally "does a Barking Wise" on me (ie ban me completely), I know Mattias will try to `keep them honest`. There`s a job for life! A bit like being an Archant hack.... but honest. I agree with you 100% on your Ref comments, Mattias. Good man!

  • DT; I hope you saw my reply before Archie deleted it. If not, it`s down to them. I regard my "obsession" as very healthy indeed! I thank you for your finishing comment.... I think ;-)

  • Its insane. Certainly one thing I wont miss about the Premier League. Clattenburg, Michael Oliver, Lee Mason....I could go on and on. Forget the fact a lot of them are simply not up to the job, a lot want (and LOVE) to be the centre of attention. Ill never forget seeing Clattenburg do some sort of gangster handshake with Drogba at full time at the Bridge. Made me sick!

  • Egyptian canary in terms of refs, im quite looking forward to the championship refs. I dont have the time to check but last season we had a championship ref for 1 game at Carrow Road and he was the best ref i'd seen in a long time. I cant remember his name but thats another reason I liked him so much. The Premier League refs are all made house hold names whether they like it or not (People like Blunderberg clearly LOVE it). Officials shouldn't be centre stage and whats talked about.

  • 'Egyptian Canary'...cheers for replying...I just think they should be rolling 'Goal Line Technology' out for ALL Championship clubs next...as you say it was test piloted in the BIG league and was a GREAT success!!! All 92 clubs should end up with it over the next three seasons and the FA should be paying for it or especially for the teams that cannot afford it...although all 92 clubs should be getting it paid for by the FA??

  • Well said Yarco Yella with some of the decisions by the officials at Carrow Road last season you would have thought that the officials in the championship would be as much in need of all the help available. This after all was the ' sales pitch' that was used for the Premier League.

  • Sorry to change the subject but was just thinking there...now we're a Championship team (hopefully not for long)...will we keep the 'Goal Line Technology' that was installed last season...or is it still just going to be for Premier League teams?...I thought it was a GREAT sucess...and it seems silly to remove it and really the FA should be looking at installing it at all Championship clubs this season, League One next and League Two after that...so over the next three seasons ALL the League Clubs will have it as well...as a goal line decision is a goal line decision and important in to all 92 League Clubs!!!

  • I'm looking forward to Grabban scoring a late winner for us against the run of play, just so they can use the headline ''Smash and Grabban''

  • Well we got Grabban but still no sign of the enigmatic director of recruiting, no further exciting players signing in and no sign of the unwanted players leaving. Just over two weeks to the beginning of pre season it looks like business as usual - everything at the last minute. Surely Adams would like business done before pre season starts.

  • I'm trying not to get too excited, as last season my pre season optimism ended in dissapointment. Hopefully things will be different this year, although I think promotion is going to be very tough and far from guaranteed.

  • Is anyone else getting excited already for next season, despite being back in the depression of the Championship im oddly looking forward to the challenge. Obviously that could soon change if all our talk turns out to be just....talk. However if things go according to plan and as the club have indicated we could be pleasantly surprised. I always hate pre-season and assumed the world cup would take the pain away slightly but it hasnt. Hopefully everyone, whether it is RVW, Fer, Ruddy whoever gets a clean slate and even playing field and we really go out and give it a good go. I dont expect for a second Becchio, RVW, Hooper etc will all be here next season but its an exciting prospect should they be and then add Grabban into the mix.

  • 'It’s important when a settled player moves on that they don’t go into a team that uses a completely different style, because it just might not work.' The boy has a wise head on his shoulders - is he a target man for Hoops and RVW, or do we still need a target many for our strikers to feed off?

  • Brewer - you seem to have an unhealthy obsession with criticising Archant. Yet you obviously love using this site. Are you, by any chance, a disgruntled former employee? You write well, so on that basis perhaps you'll say not :)
