Former Norwich City boss Paul Lambert’s agent has said his client felt let down by the way the club handled his potential move to Aston Villa.
The name of Athole Still emerged at the fan’s forum last night as Norwich City chairman Alan Bowkett revealed Mr Lambert was seeking £2m from the football club.
Described by Mr Bowkett as “a wonderful man”, Mr Still is a South London businessman who also happens to be a football agent.
Speaking to Radio Norfolk today, Mr Still said Mr Lambert’s action against the club was in the hands of lawyers and the League Managers Association.
He would not comment on clauses in Mr Lambert’s contract and that “the situation was perfectly clear if looked at logically”.
He added the action had been taking place for some time and that Mr Lambert felt he was constructively dismissed.
But he did say: “You asked the question, did Paul feel let down with how his potential move to Aston Villa was handled by Norwich City and the answer to that is yes. As a result of him feeling let down the action is taking place.”
Mr Still oversaw Italian striker Gianluca Vialli’s move from Juventus to Chelsea, represented Sven Goran Eriksson when he become England manager (and was there during the News of the World’s infamous fake sheikh dupe), and has also represented the likes of former Celtic boss Gordon Strachan, ex-Ipswich manager George Burley and Liverpool winger John Barnes.
Hailing from Aberdeen, Mr Still is not your stereotypical football agent. He competed for Britain at the 1952 Olympics, held the Scottish national record for 110 yards freestyle and won a Commonwealth Games silver medal.
He was also a tenor with the Scottish Opera and Glyndebourne, and his management company ASI was initially set up not to look after footballers, but opera singers.

Havent been on here for a long time and still seems the same old voices bleeting on about how hard done by they are. Those once chanting his name are beying for blood. Fickle much?

Great manager. Rather likes the phrases "for me" and "since I`ve been here". Eschews adulation whilst insisting on it. Not a nice person. Had a Soulectomy at birth, I suspect. As warm as the grave.

Mr . Lambert is actually a really happy man, despite that austere exterior..........IF everything goes HIS way, reminds me a little of Steve Bruce over the last ten years or so...but i cant help liking Steve !!

He really exists! Polymath Aberdonian Olympic swimmer & opera singer with a penchant for picking the right songsheet. Could he be one of the Sopranos? Made an offer of riches that Lambo just could not refuse? See next week`s exciting episode of Ratman. Same Rat time, same Rat channel.

Interesting name, Athole....Still. Very versatile, too. Apparently an ace at baking scones and very good to his mother. If he competed in the 1952 Olympics, that would make him about 80+ years old? This isn`t April 1st is it? Mind you, Thrippenny Bits were made that shape so you could remove them from an Aberdonian`s hand with a spanner. Is Athole Still an anagram........ Lies that LOL
