An understrength King’s Lynn Town face a daunting trip to high-profile FC United this afternoon.

The Linnets, without regular centre-back duo Ryan Fryatt (injured and suspended) and Jason Lee (injured) as well as keeper Ashley Timms (injured), have lost their last four matches. However, their Bury-based opponents have won six of their last seven fixtures to climb into the Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off places. So boss Gary Setchell is expecting another difficult test come 3pm.

Lynn’s manager said: “You can say it’s the ideal game for us to try and bounce back, but you can look at it two ways. They’re flying. But we go there with injuries and are on a mini bad run, so the pressure is off us to some degree. We’ll be going there with a patchwork quilt defensively though so if we get anything it would be a tremendous result.”

Alex Street will return in goal while Shaun Stocker and Charlie Butt could make the ninth-placed Linnets’ squad. United sit fifth but could only draw 0-0 at The Walks earlier this term. And Setchell insists his men will be looking to pick up another positive result against the non-league giants.

“This is a big game for us,” said Lynn’s manager.

“We’re not sitting ninth in the table for no reason. We’re not one of the bottom sides. We’re not going to Gigg Lane just to make the numbers up. If anything the team can play with some freedom – even though we’re trying to stem a flow of losing results.”
