The 2018 Banger season starts at King’s Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena on Saturday (5.30pm) with almost 170 competitors spread over the 1500cc Bangers, 2L Bangers and Junior Bangers.

The 1500cc Bangers are contesting the 2017 National Championship, which was postponed last December because of snow.

Thetford’s Tony Pallett defends the title he won in 2016 and will be looking to emulate father Geoff who won the title in 1996 and 2001 by becoming a double winner of the title. It would certainly be a poignant and emotional victory for the Pallett team if “Zippy Jnr” could pull it off with Geoff passing away just over a year ago.

There will be a lot of competition for Pallett, though, with a whole host of talented drivers in the running for the title. Leading the challenge will be National Points Champion Lee White (Saffron Walden) whilst 2016 Points Champion Lyndon Stark (Boston) hit top form at the 1500cc Banger Icebreaker last month and will be very dangerous if getting the breaks.

Other drivers who will be short odds of taking the title include Callum Gill (Lynn) and Ashley Garrod (Swaffham).

The 2L Bangers also see a big entry with the northern Dahmbusters team fielding a solid entry led by Danny Everett (Skipton) which will mix things up somewhat. Following a fantastic showing at the two Icebreakers the Predators are out in force in the 2L Bangers with Kieran and Bradley Bowman, Rib Betts and Chris Horton amongst the red and blue entry.

Completing the action are the Junior Bangers.
