Waveney Harriers, for the second year running, ran a popular hunting show at Broads Equestrian Centre in Barnby.

Classes were open to horses and ponies that have hunted three times with any hunt in the current or previous season.

The show was well supported by local businesses who sponsored the classes and St Felix School provided vouchers to every winner for a free schooling round on their cross country course. Every winner was also given a free day’s hunting.

Kerry Wilmot, from Reydon, and her son Jack, eight, attended. She said: “It was such a lovely, well-run show.

“Jack and his 12.2hh coloured pony Let’s Get Fizzy came second in the Novice Combination in their first season of hunting and he won the gentleman’s hunter with a foot-perfect individual display and go round.

“Then he was second in a hotly-contested 2’3 Novice working hunter against all big horses.

“Then he took part in the Hunt Relay, which was just fantastic – he jumped the Bullfinch which stood over a metre high.

“We can’t thank the members of the Waveney Harriers enough as Jack has been doing full days with them all this season and they really look after him out in the field.”

The event was organised by Billie Fobbester who said: “It’s really good fun to organise and it’s nice to give horses that don’t usually show a chance to get in the show ring.”

Billie was assisted by Gavin Church who said: “It’s a showing show specifically for hunting horses and they are judged on their ability as a hunt horse.

“We had a good turnout, despite the cold, and the day was very enjoyable.”
