England... Are you Norwich in disguise?

For many the feelings of anger, disappointment – and possibly resentment – of watching England will have been all too familiar.

That’s because in many ways following the country is just like following our beloved Norwich City.

And here are some reasons why.

1. They build your hopes up – just to knock them down.

2. England came flying out of the traps against both Italy and Uruguay – but then as the game wore on it all started to go wrong.

3. Luiz Suarez loves to play against England. He also enjoyed playing against the Canaries... At least he can’t bother us next season.

4. At various moments you believe they may be turning a corner and playing well – and then they let in a goal.

5. The style of football isn’t exactly one for the purists, or what the fans crave.

  • England's defense and attack was very similar to Norwich's under Hughton. However, the difference is that Norwich will almost certainly make the changes to bounce back without Hughton whereas England's lack of world class players may result in them struggling to qualify for World Cups and European Championships over the next 10-15 years.

  • Said exactly the same thing in the pub on Saturday and Thursday. Think I've been conditioned to it after the garbage we saw over the past two seasons. To coin a phrase "Hughton broke my heart, Hodgson stamped all over it". And I don't hold out a lot of hope for next season either.....

  • Sorry but this story is rubbish. England showed far more adventure in the game against Italy than Norwich had shown virtually all season. There was genuine pace in the team and we had two wingers able to take on and beat their fullnbacks. Ok the result didn;'t go England's way. But to compare the overall performance to that of most of Norwich's games under Hughton is misleading. Can hardly remember the occasions when we came "flying out of the blocks"! And did we ever genuinely look like we were "turning the corner"?
