Norwich Dragons climbed out of the bottom two with a hard-fought 3-2 victory at home to City of Peterborough in Division 1N.

The visitors took the lead after an evenly-matched start, before Dragons won a penalty corner and Marie James swept the ball home.

The hosts began to take charge and Hannah Hardy gave them the lead just before the break.

Gail Thomas’ thunderous shot from a penalty corner made it 3-1 and although Peterborough pulled one back, Dragons held on for their fourth win of the season.

Promotion-chasing Pelicans had to battle for a point in a 2-2 draw at Sudbury.

The visitors fell behind twice, but goals from Jane Proctor and Rachel Drohan kept them in the hunt for a top two finish.

A woeful first half display saw bottom-of-the-table Norwich City trailing Saffron Walden 5-0 at half-time. City improved after the break and scored through Leigh-Ann Worrall, but it was not enough to avoid a 7-1 thrashing.

In the Premier Division, Dereham drew 2-2 at home to Lowestoft and Wisbech gained a rare point in a 2-2 draw against Sevenoaks II.

A late strike from Carre Mills secured a 3-2 victory for Broadland at home to Norwich Dragons II in Division 2NE.

Dragons went ahead midway through the first half, before Broadland reshuffled and Mills rifled in an equaliser.

Tracey Buxton’s powerful run and shot gave Broadland the lead, only for Dragons to conjure an equaliser. With less than a minute left, Mills met a cross on the volley to fire in the winning goal.

Becky Cox hit a hat-trick in Sprowston’s 6-1 home win against Christchurch.

Marie Hood gave Sprowston an early lead before Amy Butler forced the ball home for the second.

Cox then opened her account for the match, but Christchurch reduced the deficit following a swift break.

Sam Tea’s fine finish extended the home side’s advantage in the second half and Cox added two more as Sprowston stayed second in the table, 16 points behind leaders Harleston Magpies II, who won 6-0 at Old Buckenham.
