Michael Bailey reports from Carrow Road as Norwich City opened their Championship win account against 10-man Watford.

Chips from Bradley Johnson and Lewis Grabban, plus an Alex Tettey goal, earned the Canaries the perfect response to their opening weekend defeat at Wolves.

Watford’s task looked difficult from the moment Joel Ekstrand was sent off for elbowing Nathan Redmond inside the opening two minutes – not that the home fans were complaining much.

Then there was substitute Leroy Fer’s prolonged goodbye at the final whistle.

City boss Neil Adams also gives his verdict on the Canaries’ vital win – and his first as manager at the seventh attempt.

  • Brew -Fer is as good as gone, Bowket made him upset and he walked from the end of season dinner, that was end of story! MARK MY WORDS

  • Sorry guys but what an amateurish video. To an outsider looking at this it will reinforce all the negative thoughts about Norfolk. Get professional boys.

  • Brewer, you talk as if you actually went to a game.....I am not fooled. I suppose you mean the reports on Lafferty and O'Neil were positive. O'Neil is a proven winner at this level so actually he should do well for us.

  • The 10-man thing has to be factored in, but playing against 10 is not a guarantee of victory - remember Hull last season. There was a lot more `zip` about the team, much of that down to the presence of Lafferty. He`s a bit of a `card`, isn`t he? And a grafter; a real team man on that showing. O`Neil`s cameo was promising too. Beginning to feel pessimistic about our chances of keeping Fer. If Surman leaves too, we`re getting a bit thin on the ground until Howson returns. Tettey looked good. As borderman reminds us, we need to do that vs 11 men, starting with Blackburn. Then bring on Ipswich. I don`t mind if we beat them even if they have 3 men sent off! As long as we beat them. (Or at least draw).

  • A very good performance by all of the team. Lafferty looks a decent target man, if only we had purchased him last season we may have stayed up. It seems to me that the Refs are having too much say in our games right now, I just hope we can have an eleven a side game on Tuesday, then we can really judge where we are.

  • Just a shame we don't play 10 men every week, in truth we will have a better idea where we are at after tuesdays game!

  • That was better, much better! The whole team looked up for the game from the first minute, we passed the ball better and quicker and used the full width of the pitch. Pity we didn't just round it all off with a couple more as that would have been good for goal difference. But a win, that's the main thing, and a good performance. Thought Tettey was excellent and wow, Whittaker had a very good game. If this was to be Fer;s final game for us, then I wish him well. He looks so composed on the ball, always finds space and time. BTW, anyone know what happened to Surman? Was it just that he didn't make the team or bench or was he injured? Tuesday will be another had game but we should have grown in confidence after today.
