The 2012 Norfolk Summer League season is still in its early stages but already there have been some extremely close and competitive matches in the top division.
Last week’s result of the match between Bannatyne’s and Oasis is now in with the two teams sharing the points in a 10-10 draw and this week there was another 10-10 draw between Broadland and Barnham Broom.
At Bannatyne’s the visitors raced into a 5-2 lead as Mark Nicholls beat Matt Green in straight games and Dave Horrex recovered from the loss of the first two games to beat Gareth Jones 5-13 12-14 15-13 13-9 13-8. Bannatyne’s however kept themselves in contention as Paul Gedge beat Paul Atterton 3-0 and then Kevin Harvey won a thrilling first string match against Mark Thomas just edging home 9-13 11-13 13-5 13-11 13-11.

Barnham Broom II won their second successive Division One match with a 13-4 victory at Cromer. The match at North Norfolk was abandoned when Fakenham’s Nicky Green suffered a nasty ankle injury and both teams wish her a speedy recovery.
North Walsham’s good start in Division Two continued with a 15-5 victory at Long Stratton and, also in this division Broadland II won 14-7 at Potters with young Will Henden beating Graham Fackman 3-1 and Neil Mc Donald winning in straight games against Darren Green. In Division Three Broadland Hunters just beat visiting Cromer II 14-7. For Cromer John Chandler beat John Munday 3-1 but the Broadland team took the bonus points as Richard Hall and Phil Magem both won 3-2 against Nick Dunnett and Martin Sanville respectively while Terry Mayes beat Michael Holdom 3-0.
Oasis II have been forced to withdraw from this division but they will be replaced by Broadland IV who will take over their fixtures.
The team’s home night will however be Tuesday and teams in Division Three are asked to ensure they confirm the fixture with Tony Henden in advance. A few matches are scheduled to take place over the Jubilee Bank Holiday but the league secretary has confirmed matches can be re-arranged although the season won’t be extended.
