Alex Tettey started as he meant to go on with a match-winning Norwich City debut on Wednesday night – before vowing more is to come.

Picture by Paul Chesterton/Focus ImagesThe Norwegian pinged a peach of a shot from distance in off a post to book the Canaries’ last 16 League Cup clash with Tottenham on his first appearance for City’s first team since a summer move from French side Rennes.
And judging by his first efforts, the midfielder could prove to be a useful asset for Chris Hughton over the coming months.
“I cannot promise scoring goals like this every week, but the way we play suits me because I can go forward when I see an opportunity and hopefully if I’m in front of the goal I can score,” said Tettey, who raced over to the City dugout on scoring City’s winner.
“Not only to the manager but the whole group – he brought me here and it’s thanks to him I got the chance to play tonight and score the goal.
“I’m thrilled for the goal, but I think there’s more room for me to improve. This is only my second match in a while, so hopefully I can get more games and improve.
“I’ve been watching the guys play and I’ve had to be patient. When I came I hadn’t played a game for one month, so the coach couldn’t put me on the pitch straight away because there are two players in the midfield who have been playing good. So I’ve just had to keep my head up and work hard.”
The next hope now for Tettey is to make his Premier League bow – something that may come as soon as Saturday’s visit from Liverpool.
“I’m very excited – that’s one of the reasons I came, so I just have to be patient again, work hard and take good care of the chances I get.
“They have been tough games and it’s a tough league. In our games we should have got more points than we have, but watching from the bench I just want to play.
“All the teams play football and I’m looking forward to making my debut in the Premier League.”

Good idea that, announce an official drought, then it rains for three months. So oodles of goals in the next thirteen games then !

Start him upfront next to Holty for Liverpool. Can't do any worse than the others!
