Tomorrow’s FA Cup third round tie is only the third competitive meeting between Norwich City and Peterborough United.

The two clubs have never met in league football but did face each other in the Littlewoods Cup second round in 1986-87, when the Canaries won 1-0 on aggregate. The first match at London Road finished in a goalless draw, while City striker Wayne Biggins scored the only goal in the second leg at Carrow Road in front of a crowd of 10,027.

Peterborough are urging fans to buy the remaining tickets for tomorrow’s tie as soon as possible. The match is not all-ticket and admission can be gained on the day of the game, but Posh had sold 12,500 tickets by 4pm yesterday with capacity for the game set at 14,500. The Canaries sold their allocation of 5,050 soon after they went on sale.

Former Premier League referee Stuart Attwell is the man in the middle at London Road tomorrow. The 30-year-old from Nuneaton took charge of the Canaries twice last season. He was in charge for the 1-1 draw at Wigan on the opening day of the season, City’s first Premier League match after promotion, when he issued the first yellow card of the campaign to midfielder David Fox. He then officiated in the Canaries’ 2-0 defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford.

  • He did manage a rare booking for that notoriously dirty player, David Fox....... I think Attwell has a bit of "form" - he is a "former" Premier League referee.......
