The Norwich City goalkeeper has been pictured in the new England World Cup kit, revealed by Nike on Monday, in the Match Attax Official England trading card game and Topps Official England World Cup stickers.

Ruddy is in the presumed squad alongside undisputed number one Joe Hart and former City loanee Fraser Forster, who is now number one at Scottish champions Celtic.

The 27-year-old former Everton man is thought to be battling with Forster and West Brom’s Ben Foster for a place in manager Roy Hodgson’s squad for Brazil.

It is expected that Hodgson will pick an enlarged 30-man squad to start with, for Wembley friendlies against Peru on May 30 and Ecuador on June 4.

The squad will then be trimmed down to 23 players ahead of the first World Cup game against Italy in Manaus on June 14.

Both collections are available in all good retailers, newsagents and independent stores across England, for more information go to www.toppsfootball.co.uk

Do you think Ruddy will be in the England squad this summer? Or has City’s poor away form damaged his chances? Leave your comments below.

  • I think out of the 4 keepers i think it should be Ben Foster who stays at home. He has turn his back on england before as the going was to tough and now his buddy is back in charge he wants to play again, we dont need a play with that sort of attiude play for us.

  • Ill be honest. I feel Ben Foster is a better keeper than John Ruddy. There you go, you forced it out of me. I feel a dirty now, like ive said nasty things behind John's back. However Ruddy is better than forster in my mind. God this is confusing! Dont agree with Ben Foster coming out of retirement once we make it to Brazil. That should been banned but then again Woy loves him so thats that. Anyone else hear Julián Speroni on talksport drive time the other night? In his words he said "I want to go to the World Cup with Argentina but if that does not happen I would consider England".....oh charming so we play 2nd fiddle and you simply think you will walk in past Hart,Foster,Forster,Ruddy,Butland,Richard Wright,Andy Marshall,Peter Shilton...etc.....I dont think so. Dont rate the Palace keeper to highly anyway!

  • Back at Carrow Road, the next batch of paper happy-clappy noise-toy posters will feature Luciano Becchio. To mark the occasion, Becchs will not be on the bench. Or in the squad.

  • So far this season Ruddy has played 32 games, made 100 saves and had 11 clean sheets and let in 51 goals, Foster has played 17, made 48 saves and had 1 clean sheet and let in 27 goals. So looking at the statstaking into account Foster has played almos half the games Ruddy has it looks like Ruddy is the better keeper.

  • Ruddy is better than Foster, parked8, despite the stats ;-) I don`t think Woy is in the same category as Hughton, Matt - surely the England manager can`t be that bad. I think Ruddy should give up his chance of going to Brazil on condition that Hughton goes instead. And promises not to return.

  • Agree Parked8. When people were saying John Terry should be reconsidered for England, Hodgson said he has turned his back on England, so I am moving on. Now his favorite changes his mind, it is a different matter. We have a person managing England with very mixed standards.

  • Hear what your saying Park but they dont always work along those lines. Sometimes its based on what he see's with his eyes and often when Woy's been in attendances its typically been the game where Ruddy drops a cross, messes about with a back pass, doesn't save a shot he should have done better with etc.....not a knock on Ruddy as I blooming love the guy and very happy he is NCFC no1! Just got a feeling Woy will go with Hart, Foster and Forster. In his eyes Forsters champions league experience looks good regards how hes played, but if you want to get into his form its actually been very good and he even broke a long standing record for not letting a goal in this season. If we want to talk stats well Forster will of course save less because he plays for a side top of the league who hardly ever lose let alone get a shot fired at him. I hope Ruddy goes, I really do after the heart break before. Just worry as Woy seems quite easy to read at times (like Hughton) and ive just got a horrid feeling.

  • I suspect this article is correct in that JR is fighting with Foster for the third goalkeeper spot. Prior to his injury last season, I thought he was looking better than Hart but so far has not quiet managed to recover that top form. I fear he is not helped by our current defence and therefore the goals against may edge him out of the trip this time around. Mind you six clean sheets here on in and he might just improve his standing in the pecking order.

  • Overall my personal opinion is Ruddy is better than Forster. Not much in it but Ruddy is a bit more mobile and despite popular belief has better kicking than Forster. In terms of Woy being better than Hughton. Dam right he is, however when watching England I do feel like im watching a slightly better version of a Hughton NCFC game. Quite similar being an England fan to being a NCFC fan really!

  • I remember Peter Shilton featuring in my 1970 Esso World Cup coin collection, but when it came to Sir Alf Ramsey's final 22, Alex Stepney got the third goalkeeping slot behind Banks and Bonetti. A pity Stepney didn't play against West Germany!

  • So the concensus is that Ruddy is better than Foster AND Forster? Or is there a name confusion factor in play, here? Anyway, that only leaves Hart to break his finger or get acute dandruff, and our man`s 1st choice! No chance of BP2`s favourite goalie getting `scurf`! ;-)

  • It'll look good on JR's CV if he goes to Brazil, but the no.3 choice keeper has much more chance of getting a sun tan than a game.

  • I still firmly believe the only way Ruddy is going to Brazil this summer is on holiday. Love the bloke but he will be the first to admit his form at start of the season wasn't good enough. Dropped crossing & such. He's vastly improved since and to be fair the team defending in front of him hasnt helped but we all know Joe Hart is no1 & Woy loves Foster so he will be no2. No3 is clearly between Ruddy & Forster. To be fair dispite it being a joke league, Forster has all the stats and performances in the champions league on his side etc. Hopefully Ruddy goes after the heartbreak of last time. Fingers crossed!
