Hull City piled pressure on Norwich City in the race for the Championship play-offs by beating top six chasing rivals Coventry 3-2 on Wednesday night.

The Tigers can now achieve a maximum of 75 points from their remaining fixtures, with the Canaries boasting a three-point lead and a superior goal difference of seven over seventh-placed Hull.

The result means Hull are still able to catch David Wagner's men - who could take a massive step towards play-off qualification with victory over Swansea at the weekend.

In a topsy-turvy contest at the CBS Arena on Wednesday evening, Hull took the lead on two occasions but were pegged back twice by Mark Robins' side before a late winner by Noah Ohio secured a massive three points for Liam Rosenior's men.

Jaden Philogene gave Hull the lead inside the opening 31 minutes before Kasey Palmer's delicious free-kick restored parity. The visitors then were awarded a spot kick for a foul on Manchester City loanee Liam Delap, which Fabio Carvalho converted on the stroke of half-time.

Bobby Thomas' header levelled the contest before Ohio profited from a defensive mix-up to win the game for Hull.

The result means that Coventry can now only achieve 72 points from their remaining three games against Blackburn, Ipswich and QPR.

Hull, therefore, become the biggest challengers to City's top six place - and Norwich will be hoping for a favour from arch-rivals Ipswich on Saturday, who travel to the MKM Stadium this weekend hoping to keep their push for automatic promotion alive.

Rosenior's side travel to Plymouth on the final day and will be hoping to set up a dramatic finale in the Championship top six race.

All of that context makes Saturday's clash against Swansea hold extra significance for the Canaries, with victory for them and Hull failing to beat Ipswich enough to secure their top six place. Norwich are level on points with fifth-placed West Brom, who travel to Sheffield Wednesday.

Norwich are away at relegation-threatened Birmingham on the final day of the campaign and will hope to have a play-off spot finalised before then.
