A report has found that a scheme which saw £1m given to Norwich's cathedrals for repairs has significantly reduced immediate risks.
The First World War Centenary Cathedral Repairs Fund, launched by the government in 2014, saw £40m given to 57 cathedrals around the country for urgent repair works.
Norwich's Anglian Cathedral has received £748,730 since 2014 for three roof repair projects, electrical infrastructure and improving weather resistance.
The Catholic St John's Cathedral received £190,000 in 2015 for roof re-leading.
According to a new report on the scheme, there has been a significant reduction in problems requiring immediate repair as a result of the investment.
It did, however, warn that recipients all had outstanding repairs in areas not covered by the scheme.
Neil Parsons, chapter steward at Norwich Anglican Cathedral, said they were 'delighted' with the work, and hoped the government would consider a similar scheme in the future.
