An MP has written to the chief executive of Britvic to question why staff were not informed of the one-off costs attached to the relocation of its Norwich operations.

Clive Lewis, MP for Norwich South, has asked Simon Litherland whether a 'meaningful consultation' took place with workers if they were unaware of the figure. He adds that the costs may have contributed to a drop in share price in the days after it was announced which will have hit many employees who held shares.

In his letter Mr Lewis writes: 'If it wasn't known during the consultation process how were Britvic management in a position to determine whether the alternative proposals submitted by the consultation group were unviable?'

Robinson's squash maker Britvic made the decision to leave the Bracondale site it shared with Unilever in December with the loss of 230 jobs in the city.

It revealed the decision would contribute to costs of £35m to £40m in a market update in January.

Britvic has said it has received the letter and will respond in due course.
