Plans approved for 275 new homes in Wymondham

PUBLISHED: 11:00 23 November 2012

Plans to build more than 200 new homes on a greenfield site in Wymondham have been approved.

Outline planning consent has been granted to Persimmon Homes Anglia to create 275 homes at a site on Norwich Road, near Waitrose.

The homes will range from one bedroom flats to four bedroomed houses and the plans include four areas of public open space on the site, which measures more than 22 acres. A third of the homes will be affordable housing units and 10pc will be bungalows. A toucan crossing, public footpath and cycleway will be created through the development and Persimmon will also make contributions to enhance education and library facilities. Andrew Fuller, managing director of Persimmon Homes Anglia, said: “This consent follows a very positive and supportive public consultation in the spring, with feedback concerning highways and drainage helping to shape the proposals.

“We have taken on board the views of local residents and those of the council’s design officer in putting together an approach which ensures a high quality landscaped development that reflects local character whilst making a design statement at this major entrance to the town.”
