Almost 200 apartments are about to go on sale at Sentinel House - one of the biggest office conversions into residential Norwich has ever seen.

The conversion of the five storey building into 199 apartments is on schedule to be finished in July 2018 but the properties officially go on sale with estate agents abbotFox next Saturday, November 18.

Sentinel House aims to be a luxury development which will include a 24 hour gym for residents, a concierge service in a marble lobby and a communal residents’ lounge. It also boasts extensive infrastructure to ensure people living there can get to and from their homes easily – so there will be five lifts, three entrances and three separate stairwells.

Samuel Le Good, a partner at abbotFox, the agent selling the apartments, said: “This is undoubtedly the biggest conversion to residential the city has seen following some other inspirational developments such as Westlegate Tower, Skipper House and the Union Building.

“What we are seeing is a transformation of tired, unused offices around the city which, instead of going into decline are being bought by investors who are creating fantastic new homes and adding to the attractive appeal of Norwich in doing so.”

Sentinel House, built in 1990, and bought by a London firm of investors, will offer studios, one bedroom and two bedroom properties, for sale from £120,000. There is underground car parking, bike stores and one of the most stunning features of the former Aviva building, which closed in 2015, are two pink and blue stained glass panels. One of these goes from the very bottom of the lobby right to the top, 17.5ms high. These stained glass panels have been retained and make a stunning feature rising up in front of the main staircase. Many of the apartments on the upper floors boast panoramic views of the city towards the cathedral and castle, over the city’s roof tops and their location, right in the very heart of the city, make them attractive to all kinds of buyers from professionals who can walk to work, investors for buy to lets and downsizers. The developers are ensuring a high specification for the apartments which are being fitted with ‘quiet wall’ technology to ensure soundproofing between residences, painted with Farrow & Ball and Dulux colours, and installed with an airflow passive ventilation system meaning there is no need to open windows in the winter, as just some of the extra features.
