Zoe Brant-Wright, from Sprowston, brought forward her special day after her 46-year-old dad, Mark, was diagnosed with inoperable stomach cancer.

The 23-year-old had wanted to ensure her father was able to see her marry the man he introduced her to three years ago.

But a lack of money to pay for the wedding at the time meant it was not possible.

After hearing her story, people from across Norfolk donated money, rings and suits to make the event happen.

And thanks to their efforts, Mrs Brant-Wright was walked down the aisle by her dad on Saturday (April 21) at the church of St Anne on Colman Road, Earlham.

Her aunt, Sharon Kidd, said: 'It was an absolutely perfect day, although it was also very sad.

'We had the rehearsal on Wednesday and Mark was feeling really, really rough.

'I didn't think he would be well enough, but he made it and did a brilliant job.'

Mrs Kidd said the most emotional moment was the father-daughter dance, which was to the song Hero by Mariah Carey.

'There were a lot of tears throughout the day,' Mrs Kidd said. 'The dance was very emotional.'

More than £1,000 was raised for the wedding through an online crowdfunding campaign set up by Mrs Brant-Wright brother.

The suits were provided for free by Slaters Menswear in Norwich, while Beaverbrookes, in the Chapelfield shopping centre, donated rings for free.

Speaking prior to the wedding, Mrs Brant-Wright said she also managed to buy her wedding dress for £45 on Ebay.

She said: 'We have had to plan the whole thing in four weeks. But my main concern is my dad.

'As long as he is there, I don't mind if the smaller details don't go to plan.'

The church of St Anne hosted the wedding for free and the reception was held at the Moles Rest on Fifers Lane.

Mrs Brant-Wright said her father went from weighing 12 stone to just eight-and-a-half stone as a result of his cancer.

He was diagnosed with the disease shortly after Christmas 2017.
