Young performers from across Norfolk took part in a performing arts showcase in Norwich yesterday, as part of a project to ensure a positive legacy is left by the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Performers aged from 13 to 25 had the chance to perform to a panel of industry experts, take part in masterclasses in their chosen field and find out more about performance opportunities across the county.

The showcase was held at Open, in Bank Plain, and was funded by the Norfolk Community Foundation and Legacy Trust UK’s ‘Somewhereto_’ project, which is funding ideas and local talent to inspire creativity across the country and is being co-ordinated in the east of England by Creative Arts East.

Project officer, Elly Wilson, said: “We had a variety of different performances including acoustic singing, a little dance piece, some rapping and an Elvis impersonation.

“The Somewhereto_ project is a good programme for these performers because there are a lot of benefits for young people to be had from it.”
