A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office for parts of the Eastern region today.

Scattered but potentially intense thundery downpours are likely to develop from the middle of the day onwards across the region.

The Met Office is warning that the public should be aware that where these occur, they could bring a risk of surface water flooding, with hail and gusty winds posing additional hazards locally.

Around 20 mm of rain could fall within an hour at a few locations but the majority of places will see much less.

It comes after a beautiful end to the weekend across many parts of the region.

This was despite heavy rain to start across parts of the region on Saturday.

Weatherquest forecaster Dan Holley said any thundery showers this morning should clear fairly quickly with today being mainly dry and humid with temperatures of about 23 or 24 degrees Celsius.

He said there was a risk of thunderstorms in the west of the county later in the day and a risk of further thundery rain in the Great Yarmouth and Caister area in the early hours of Tuesday.

The middle of this week looks set to be dry with temperatures in the low 20s and a little bit of sun, while there is the chance of a few showers on Friday and Saturday.
