A woman in her 80s had her handbag stolen outside a church in Great Yarmouth.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the victim was targeted at 9.45am on New Year’s Day.

She had crossed St George’s Park and walked onto Deneside. When she arrived at St Spyridon’s Greek Orthodox church a man approached her and stole her handbag before running off towards the seafront. The bag was black and navy with a single strap and contained a small amount of money.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to call PC Gareth Evans at Great Yarmouth police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
