Sport Relief is back – and is calling on you to go the extra mile.

The Norwich Mile on Sunday, March 25, is your chance to help good causes and kick-start the UK’s biggest year of sport.

With one-, three- and six-mile routes available, there’s no excuse for all ages and abilities not to get out and walk, jog, sprint or even hop the route.

Norwich City Council leader Brenda Arthur will take part for the third time, along with her son and daughter-in-law and three grandchildren.

She said: “We look forward to an exciting event and if you don’t want to run, you can walk. Or join with friends, family and colleagues to raise funds in different ways – what about a ‘Dress as your favourite sports star’ day at work or school?

“The main thing is to raise some important funds and have fun.”

Cllr Arthur was joined at the launch of the Norwich Mile by Norfolk’s double Olympic 10,000m finalist Paul Evans and multiple fencing medallist, 83-year-old Connie Adam.

The Norwich mile route will start at the Forum, take in the Castle, the Guildhall and finish up in Chapelfield Gardens. Last time more than 2,500 people took part.

Mr Evans said: “It’s a great way of getting the whole community active, and raising money for great causes. With this being the Olympic year, I am sure it will make this an even greater occasion.”
