A lifeboat towed a stricken fishing boat to safety after it got into difficulty off the coast of Cromer today.
The 11 metre fishing vessel, Isobel Kathleen, had been fishing off Cromer when her engine suddenly stopped and the crew were unable to restart it.
It is understood submerged debris got caught up in her steering gear which fouled the propeller causing immediate engine failure. The fishing boat was forced to anchor five miles north-west of Cromer and her crew of two called the coastguard for assistance.
Wells lifeboat was paged and the all-weather vessel Doris Mann of Ampthill was launched just before 4.30pm.
It took over an hour for the lifeboat to reach the fishing boat, and at just after 5:40pm she was taken in tow back to her home port of Wells.
The boat was finally moored up in harbour at 8:15pm this evening.
No one was hurt in the incident.
