As Norfolk and Waveney wake up to a white out this morning there was no indications freezing temperatures and snowfall were due to let up in the next 24 hours.
Heavy snow is expected to continue until 10am this morning, with an amber warning in place from the Met Office.
The agency said this meant rural communities could become cut off, there could be power cuts, and vehicles may become stranded.
Even after 10am the snow is expected to continue to fall thick and fast, but the Met Office is predicting it will downgrade the weather warning to yellow.
As the day goes on it is expected to become drier later, but it will feel 'increasingly raw given a strengthening easterly wind'.
Temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing.
Later tonight scattered snow showers are forecast, otherwise becoming dry with clear spells.
However it will remain very cold with a minimum temperature of -7C.
Moving into tomorrow, forecasts say it will be generally dry with sunny spells, but more snow is possible going into the weekend.
