Sadie Caudwell, of Buxton Road, wanted to give something back to her local community and organised the event to give children in the village a day to remember.

A mum of three, she said: “The town hasn’t seen a carnival or fun day for 20 years so I decided it was time to do one.”

Since April Mrs Caudwell, 35, has put together a committee and said she had been surprised at how big the fun day plans had grown.

The day will include performances from majorettes, a ferret show and race, a BMX show from Cromer skatepad, Razz the clown and Auntie Pearl, a children’s nursery rhyme fancy dress and a seaside hats competition, a dog show, Punch and Judy and a grand raffle, including vouchers for Cromer’s Red Lion Hotel, Mundesley’s Manor Hotel and Splash in Sheringham.

There will also be stalls and a car boot sale.

Mrs Caudwell said: “We’ve got so much happening and we will be rounding the day off with a balloon race to end it.

“We need volunteers to help out with stalls, traffic management, judging and cleaning up, and ultimately the charities.”

All proceeds raised from the event will be shared between the East Anglian Air Ambulance, Cromer Skatepad and East Runton paying field.

Mrs Caudwell has already raised £1,800 for the three groups by organising bingo evenings, auctions, raffles and discos.

Cromer town mayor Gwen Smith will officially open the fun day at East Runton’s football pitch, on High Street, at 10am on August 26
