Tap dancing in the sunshine was the order of the day as performers from a show coming to the Norwich Theatre Royal treated passers-by to a surprise performance in the city centre.
The Forum provided the backdrop for dancing duo Gilles Guenat and Jérémie Champagne as they wowed people with their moves and comedy antics yesterday lunchtime.
Gilles is a former world tap dance champion, while dancer and choreographer Jérémie starred in the French series of So You Think You Can Dance?
Both are part of the cast of the show Tap Factory that will be appearing at the Theatre Royal later this month.
Described by audiences as ‘Stomp Meets Tap Dogs,’ Tap Factory is a rhythm-based theatre show that mixes a kaleidoscope of dancing, acrobatics, percussion, comedy and more.
“We wanted to give people a flavour of what’s going to happen at the theatre on April 21. We will be in Norwich for three days and doing four shows,” said Vincent Pausanias, who directed and created the show, and also visited the city yesterday.
“Tap Factory is a dance show, but not just a dance show.
“There are lots of different elements including acrobatics, dancing and comedy.
“The show takes place in a factory so all the characters are people in the factory.
“It’s a really fun show. There’s lots of comedy in the show.
“The idea is that we wanted people to leave the show with positive energy so that’s why there’s lots of comedy moments with the characters, and people just laugh all the show long.”
Tap Factory is at the Norwich Theatre Royal from April 21 to 23. Tickets are from £5.50 to £23.50. For more information and to book tickets call the box office on 01603 630000 or visit www.theatreroyalnorwich.co.uk
