A candle burns bright in memory of a toddler killed in a tragic accident at her family home.
Trinity Liliana Coward, 2, died after a stone fire surround fell on her on Theobald Road in Old Lakenham on Sunday.
Her heartbroken parents paid tribute to their “little princess” who was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital but died shortly after arrival.
The Rev Kate Belcher, the assistant priest at St John the Baptist Church in Old Lakenham, lit a candle for the Coward family and told of her shock and sadness at the death.
“It’s a loss to the whole of the community and as a church we will be doing everything we can to help the family,” she said.
“I and the whole community will be praying for her family, our hearts go out to them.”
Neighbours reported hearing a loud crash on Sunday afternoon followed by screaming from the family’s home before paramedics battled to safe the girl’s life.
Grief-stricken parents Shaun and Kelly Coward said in a statement signed by them and Trinity’s siblings: “Our little princess. Your gorgeous smile and those dimples forever etched on our hearts.
“Daddy’s little baby girl shine bright like a diamond in the sky.
“Mummy’s little angel so loving and cuddly. Can’t wait to have snuggles.
“‘Til we see you again, all our love from Mummy, Daddy and your brothers and sisters.”
Mrs Belcher said services at the Old Lakenham church on Thursday and Sunday morning will remember the youngster and pray for her family.
“The children are our future, so what we have now lost is potential for the future,” she said.
“That loss is not just for the family, but everybody who lives around here. The school, the church, all the friends, and the friendships that haven’t happened, all that is lost.”
Norfolk police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious and has been handed to Norfolk’s coroner.
