One of the UK’s top military display teams dropped in to loud applause at the Royal Norfolk Show this afternoon.
The RAF Falcons parachute display team, based at RAF Brize Norton, made their return to the Grand Ring today and will be doing a total of four jumps over the two-day show tomorrow and Thursday.
The display at the Norfolk Showground – which is sponsored by Hoseasons – is a firm favourite with families and tens of thousands of visitors were amazed by today’s array of advanced freefall manoeuvres, with falling speeds of up to 120mph.
Their unique, non-contact canopy stack – which has become synonymous with the Falcons – was part of the line-up. The height of the display was 5,000ft above the ground.
Sgt Shaun Borley, who took part in this afternoon’s jump, said it was “always brilliant” to put on a show for the annual agricultural event each year.
“The adrenaline before you leave the door, knowing you’ve got the one chance to make sure you’re doing a decent show, is great - you do it for the crowd,” he said. “It’s hard work all the way down but it’s a pleasure to jump into events such as this one.”
Check back later for an aerial video from the team.
