Emergency services were called to Magdalen Street in Norwich this afternoon after reports of a man causing serious criminal damage to a shop using an axe.
Norfolk Constabulary were called to Secondhand Land, opposite Anglia Square, at 3.50pm to reports of a man causing criminal damage to the shop.
Windows of the shop have been smashed using the weapon but a man in his 50s has now been arrested and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed that one person had suffered a minor injury in the unusual incident, saying: “We were called at 16.12 to an address in Magdalen Street, Norwich, where a 65-year-old man had received an injury to his thigh. We sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to the scene.
“Our clinician carried out a thorough assessment of the casualty. Fortunately the injury was superficial and he was treated at the scene and left in the care of police. This patient did not go to hospital.”
