Four were injured and one trapped inside a car following a crash that blocked the A47 Acle Straight near Great Yarmouth.

The A47 between Acle and Yarmouth was blocked for almost two hours following a two-car crash near the Halvergate turning at about 1.35pm today.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said four people were injured; one female and two adults were treated at the scene before two of those involved were taken to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston for further treatment.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service sent two crews to the scene. A spokesman said they used hydraulic rescue equipment to release casualties and provided scene safety.

The road reopened at about 3.30pm.

  • Knock down the restaurant at this junction and put in a roundabout. This would slow down the traffic, and may prevent some motorcycle fatalities.

  • The government think its better people get injured and killed and there families suffer the loss of a family member or friend rather than spend money these families and friends have gave them in taxes. not to mention the rid lock the road being closed courses for Yarmouth and the surrounding villages it looks like that's how much the government value us tax payers.

  • I agree with Vic in that I have little confidence in our local authorities. The repeated accidents on the Acle Straight however are all about the appalling driving you will see any day on that road and elsewhere around Yarmouth and Gorleston.

  • Par for the course, I'm afraid, but our government and local authorities, aren't interested in improving this road, when there's money to be made for the private sector elsewhere.
