A man was hurt after being hit by a car in Norwich’s Prince of Wales Road - an incident which shut the road for just over an hour.

Emergency services were called to the accident just after 9.15pm last night.

Norwich police said a pedestrian had been hit by a car close to the Compleat Angler pub,

The accident blocked the road, in the heart of Norwich’s clubland, between Rose Lane and Riverside Road.

Norfolk police warned motorists to avoid the area, while bus routes were being diverted.

The man, in his mid 20s, was taken to hospital with a head injury, but police said it was not life-threatening.

The road had reopened by 11.15pm.
