A note in the ground from Anglian Water warns there is a water leak

Engineers have stopped water gushing from a leak in a county village sooner than expected after fears were raised it was creating a danger for motorists.
Big puddles emerged in Norwich Road, Mulbarton, because of a problem near to Mulbarton Common and Forge Orchards.
This led to villager Brian Mitchell expressing concerns for the safety of people travelling by road, especially motorcycles, as temperatures were expected to plummet over the weekend.
Mr Mitchell said: “Cars are hitting the flood at a minimum of 30mph and the cars that do spot the flood veer into the centre of the road towards vehicles coming out of the T-junction and the blind bend.”
And with Anglian Water previously warning that current weather trends could result in East Anglia suffering its worst drought since 1921, Mr Mitchell also said he was frustrated by the lack of action to stop the leak.
He predicted hundreds of gallons of water were lost on Friday.
Anglian Water originally notified residents that repairs would start today.
But after being contacted by the Evening News, the company confirmed a crew was working on the problem on Saturday.
A company spokesman said it appeared the problem was a “fairly bog-standard leak” and blocked drains were causing water to run onto the road.
The spokesman added yesterday: “Yes, all was fixed on Saturday and no customers’ water was turned off.”
Norfolk County Council’s fleet of gritters were out treating roads across the region on Saturday night due to the predicted low temperatures.

It wouldn't be anything to do with it appearing in the paper would it? With the drought taking hold all water companies should now be forced to treat any leakages as an emergency.

The water doesn't disappear once it has leaked, it's still there.

From Anglian Water Help Us Identify Water Leaks Across Our Region – Big Or Small. If You Spot A Leak, Down The Street, Up The Alley Or Round The Corner – Please Tell Us So We Can Fix It Fast. I wouldn't call Monday fast, surely with a drought imminent and the potential of this water on the road freezing and causing an accident, surely this should have been treated as an emergency. Anglian Water was investigated by Ofwat in 2011 for failing to meet leakage targets who said these failures sent a "poor signal" about how the company value water. Wasn’t it only a couple of weeks ago they were bleating about the shortage of water and how the customer needs to save water? So it’s okay for us to save water when they AW plainly don’t give a damn.

there has been an 'Anglian water aware' sign beside a constant flow of water from a cover on the Earlham road roundabout for over 2 weeks, I understand it's in an awkward position, but they just need to put the roundabout down to one lane on a sunday to avoid disruption. It seems they're useless at solving leaks and conserving water, although there is a hosepipe ban imminent.......!

why do they send out a "crew" out to speak to the reporter of the leak?? surly they would be better off mending the "bog standard leak" but then again they need a reason to put up the price of thier water bills, just a fob off reply once again it will still be leaking next weekend
