Police were called by the ambulance service to a property in Pembroke Close at around 12.50am where a man was injured. Paramedics tended to the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have now confirmed that the man suffered a stab wound.

A 45-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man, both from Mildenhall, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where they await questioning.

A police cordon was placed around the property and adjoining houses following the incident and remains in place as of 4pm.

A police spokesman said the cordon is expected to be in place overnight and identification of the victim was unlikely to take place today.

A post mortem may be carried out today, according to the spokesman.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Joint Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team on 101.
