Update: Man arrested after A11 crash which blocked road and left several injured

A man has been arrested after a crash on the A11 this afternoon (Saturday) which blocked both directions of the road at Elveden.
The head-on crash, between a Toyota and a Volkswagen, happened at the crossroads between the B1106 and A11 at around 2.30pm
The driver of the VW, a 29-year-old man from Coventry, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking.
He is currently being held by police at West Suffolk Hospital.
One of the back seat passengers of the Toyota suffered leg injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital while a second back seat passenger had arm and shoulder injuries and was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.
A front seat passenger suffered arm and pelvic injuries and was taken by air ambulance to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital and the driver was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital with leg and facial injuries.
Suffolk police said the road was due to reopen “shortly”.
Five ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, the East of England Air Ambulance and a doctor who was travelling on the road at the time, attended the scene.
