An investigation has started into the cause of a fire, in which a man died, at a flat in Norwich this morning.
Fire crews from Earlham, Carrow and Sprowston were sent to the scene, just after 5am, and the crews used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
A Norfolk police spokesman said: “Police are currently at the scene of a fire in Norwich.
“Officers were called to flats in Hotblack Road just after 5am after reports of smoke coming from one of the properties.
“The fire service was also in attendance at the fire which was in a bedroom.
“Sadly, a man who was in the flat died at the scene.
“Fire service investigators, assisted by police, will this morning examine the property and carry out a full investigation to establish how the fire started. A cordon remains in place.”
