There are delays to services due to the problems earlier today but flights are now operating.

Passengers flying from Norwich to Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport today were earlier told they could not travel if they were connecting in the city for another European destination.

A second world war bomb was found at Schiphol Airport this morning, and Amsterdam’s Schiphol Terminal C, the terminal serving most European destinations, was evacuated as a precautionary measure.

The Amsterdam airport was also at the centre of a mistaken hijack alert this afternoon after a plane was escorted in to land by two military fighters.

It was thought that the plane had been taken over en route from Malaga in Spain to Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, but later reports said there had been a communications mix-up and the airliner had not been hijacked.
