A woman in her 40s has been taken to hospital this morning following a two car crash on a busy main road in Hainford, near Norwich.

The A140, between the Green Lane junction and the B1149 Holt Road, was blocked in both directions for around two hours this morning following the crash between a Vauxhall Astra and a Seat Ibiza.

The accident happened at around 9.20am today and a team of East Anglian Air Ambulance medics drove to the scene in a rapid response vehicle.

Working alongside other ambulance crew members, the team treated the woman at the accident site, along with her passenger who had minor injuries, before she was transported to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in a land ambulance.

Her condition is described as stable.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service appliances from Sprowston and Carrow also attended. Crews used enhanced hydraulic rescue equipment to help release the people and vehicle stability and scene safety was carried out along with casualty care.
