As the school summer holidays enter their fourth week, some people’s ideas for keeping the children entertained may be running out of steam.

But a Norwich shopping centre believes it might have the answer – by offering free activities for young people to help relieve boredom, as well as help them to learn a little long the way.

Book characters such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf have been visiting the Kastle Kids club for storytelling activities.

The youngsters have created their own Red Riding Hood masks as part of the activities at the Castle Mall shopping centre, with the storytelling of classic children’s tales followed by a themed craft that the children can take home with them.

Next Friday, August 18, fun dance workshops will be held at the club for children aged 18 months to seven-years-old after the club teamed up with The Garage.

There will also be competitions held throughout the summer, with the chance for children to win some top prizes.

One contest held already was a fancy dress competition, with children dressing up as book characters.

Robert Bradley, manager of the 80-store Castle Mall shopping centre in Norwich city centre, said: “I am so glad that our summer is packed full of exciting Kastle Kids activity again.

“It really has gone down a storm at our previous events and this summer have gone all out to keep the kiddies entertained for free.

“It is a great way for kids to meet new friends and get to know our lively and engaging kids club team.

“We are proud that we can offer free entertainment for families over the school holidays.

“The activities that the kiddies will engage with will be a lot of fun and also educational, with thanks to The Millennium Library and other community groups.”

To book places at the dance workshop, call The Garage on 01603 283382.
