Tripping, pushing and wandering into traffic - what’s the worst thing you’ve done while ‘dumbwalking’?

PUBLISHED: 09:31 16 July 2014 | UPDATED: 09:51 16 July 2014

Have you ever walked into someone, tripped or narrowly avoided causing traffic chaos because you were too busy looking at your smart phone?

According to health workers, a lot of us have.

The number of people being admitted to hospital with smart phone-related injuries is rapidly on the rise, as we become more desperate to connect on the go.

‘Dumbwalking’, as it’s known, is the zombie-like state caused by a desire to check texts, emails and apps.

And we’d like to know about your experiences - what’s the worst, or most embarassing, thing you’ve done while ‘dumbwalking’? Or are you just fed up of seeing others engrossed in their phones?

Drop us a tweet on @EDP24 to share your stories.

  • Walking around with their little arms sticking out like Daleks. And then walking STRAIGHT OUT into the road! I saw a young couple out together, each engrossed in their own smartphone and paying no attention whatsoever to the other. Sad...

  • All you see is people walking about playing with there phones, even in supermarkets, pubs and buses. They must want there brains tested, is it any wonder people get there phones nicked

  • I'm amazed you haven't been snowed under! The number of prats out there who pay no attention to anything except their mobile is amazing. I have developed my own way of dealing with it (but not for publication!)
