She was joined by guests including Lord and Lady Tollemache, the Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk, the honourable Margaret Rhodes, the Queen’s cousin, and Prince and Princess Ludwig Baden.

Wearing a hot pink coat with black accessories, the Queen chatted to the public and received flowers from a queue of children after the service.

Among the crowd was Renee Smith, from Hunstanton, who brought her grandsons Jacob, 9, and Reuben, 7, to present the Queen with a rose.

“I think she looked lovely,” she said. “The Queen does a wonderful job.”

Also waiting patiently were Paige, 16, Bradley 14, and three-year-old Mia Star Croft, who travelled up from Hitchin, in Hertfordshire, with their mum Denise and cousin Joe, 14.

“It’s well worth making the journey,” Mrs Crofts said. “We go to Hunstanton afterwards and make a day of it.”

The Queen is due to attend church in Sandringham next week as she continues her winter stay in Norfolk.
