Properties in Norwich suffer power cut and trains delayed to London Liverpool Street

17:56 05 February 2014

There has been a power cut in Norwich.

There has been a power cut in Norwich.

More than 160 properties in Norwich suffered a power cut this afternoon.

A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: “Our engineers attended site to restore power to 162 customers in the Rouen Road area of Norwich this afternoon.

“Customers would have seen an interruption to power at around 4.20pm following third party cable damage in the area.

“Power was restored to all customers after an hour.

“We understand how difficult it can be to be without power and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Meanwhile, overhead wire problems have disrupted scheduled train journeys from Norwich to London Liverpool Street.

Greater Anglia said a normal service is expected to resume at around 8pm.

In the meantime, people can take trains from Norwich to Ipswich, where a bus can take passengers to Colchester for trains to London Liverpool Street.

  • It's ironic that we only seem to notice our power supplies and transport (not to mention water supply) - infrastructure for the sheeple who love to keep using the word - is when it fails. We never appear to show gratitude for the convenient access we enjoy to these services for the vast majority of the time. When I consider the majority of the human race I am extremely grateful for these services and have the greatest admiration and respect for those who go out at any time and, usually, in foul weather conditions to effect repairs whilst being subjected to a lot of complaining. Also at this time my deepest sympathies go out to the people in the west of the UK who are suffering far worse.
