A Norwich photographer is working with Goggle to capture snapshots inside businesses in the city for the search engine.

Ivas Galenieks, 63, has been creating virtual business tours of shops in Norwich to go on the Google Maps website.

His work is part of Google's Business View which has launched in the U.S. in 2014. The technology involves blending separate photographs together to make a 3D image which imitates the inside of the business.

It has been used for well known locations including Buckingham Palace and the British Museum and two years ago Mr Galenieks started doing it for Norwich companies after gaining his Google qualification.

He said: 'I used to work on St Benedicts Street and like it so much that I started to approach businesses on it to see if they wanted me to make them a virtual tour to put on Google.

'The response has been very positive with one company informing me that they have had customers coming from London as they have seen that the shop stocks what they need via the virtual tours.'

The Latvian-born photograph has so far created over 20 virtual tours for Norwich companies including the Japanese restaurant Shiki and Pedal Revolution.

Pauline Goldsworthy of Norwich Art Suppliers on St Benedicts Street is one of the business woman in the city who have benefited from Mr Galeniek's photography.

She said: 'He spent the day taking lots of photos of the shop before piecing them together. It all looks very professional.

'We have had one or people who have come in the shop and told us they found us on Google via the photographs so it has had a positive impact.'
