A Dereham charity shop closed suddenly this week.
Arthritis Research UK, on the high street, put a sign up in the shop window on Thursday afternoon informing customers the store, which is opposite the war memorial, had closed for good.
Susan Hudson Wright, head of retail at the charity, said the closure was due to “ongoing property maintenance issues on site”.
She said: “The multi-storey building was not a suitable set-up for our retail operation, particularly as we work with and for people who may have mobility or accessibility issues.
“The shop was scheduled to close in January 2014 but due to an issue with stock availability we had to bring our final trading day forward.”
The charity said the store would do its best to find a suitable alternative role for the shop manager.
Mrs Hudson Wright added: “We are really grateful for all the support we have received from the local Dereham community, without whose support we would not have been able to continue funding life-changing research for millions of people living with arthritis.”
The shop is now the third empty building in a row of four along the high street.
