People are being urged to help support their community and take part in a Christmas street fair event.

Stalham is holding its annual Christmas Street Fair on Sunday, December 9 from 2-4pm and organisers are looking for volunteers to help man stalls and for everyone to come along and get involved with the event, which has been running in the town for the past 14 years.

Paul Curson, chairman of Stalham street events committee, said: “We hope to have fairground rides for the children, craft and charity stalls, donkeys from Scratby and Norwich Sci-Fi club coming along.”

Mr Curson also thanked all the volunteers who he said had rallied round to rescue this year’s Stalham Christmas decorations.

Earlier this year organisers feared the town would be without Christmas tree lights unless more people came forward to help put them up, but on Saturday there were scores of people helping out.

Workers and residents of Flagship Housing’s youth unit and members of Stalham Round Table helped decorate the trees and the Stalham branch of the Co-operative Funeral Service were on hand handing out teas and refreshments to the volunteers.

Bookings are now being taken for charity or craft stalls at the street fair. The cost of a stall is £6. To reserve a place, contact Shell on 01692 582928 or 07867 892867.
