Firefighters were called to the beach at Sea Palling this afternoon to help in the search for a missing dog.
A fire service spokesman said the dog was reported missing yesterday. The Stalham fire crew had been unable to find it.

Yes, ban dogs from all beaches. How about banning fat people from eating? Or stupid people from trying to think? Or even people who only think about themselves from contributing to a news blog?!! All of you, get a life and think of others for a change.

If the engine is manned by retained firemen, I think they are paid a fee for each callout, therefore extra cost would be involved. Dog owners should be responsible for this cost.

PITY--dogs ARE allowed on Cromer and Lowestoft beaches from first October.i think they should be banned from them as the owners let them foul them and they scurry off without picking it up.

what an utter waste of time, dog owners should keep their animals on a lead at all times then they would'nt lose them or cause problems for non dog owners, the owner should be fined

Yes on paper this does look a waste of time but as others have pointed out you don't know the full facts. And morello have you thought the reason they attend cats stuck in trees is to stop stupid owners climbing up after them getting stuck themselves? or the cows stuck in ditches might actually be someones livelyhood?

I was walking my dog along the beach at the time the fire service were there. They received a call to say there was a dog stuck in sand, it turned out the dog had been missing for 24 hours and was believed to be stuck down a rabbit hole in the dunes! If you guys think walking through waist heigh brambles and gauze, digging out every rabbit hole they came across was "a jolly" I suggest you try it!!!! Also I am told the Stalham crew are retained and so are called in by a pager when they are needed so are, not sitting on their a**es! Perhaps you guys need to get all the facts first?!?!

It is more than obvious that by the comments made you are not animal lovers, do not know the full circumstances of the incident and do not have any respect for the nature of the incident. It certainly was not a Sunday afternoon jolly for the firefighters. Try having a little more respect and find out the true facts before leaving your mindless comments.

A nice walk on the beach for the firefighters . Send the owner the bill for the cost - imagine how much an hour you`d have to pay to hire a fire engine .

Stop moaning you lot, and (maybe) just think for a moment. Think good PR, good community relations, avoids firepeople sitting on their ass getting bored .... Oh and Mylen1um, the cost was probably a tenner's worth of diesel.

there seem to be getting more and more of these call outs ducks stuck in drains, cows stuck in ditches, cats stuck in trees, now a lost dog, and how many alarm activations which are false alarms, must be costing a fortune
